Page 2 of 6 21/07/06After much discussion yesterday the plan was to head up to the Chatelleret hut with a plan to climb Tete Nord du Replat on Sunday morning. I think Andy did the breakfast run this Morning – pain au chocolat and a regular croissant. Coffee was also on the menu. We set off for the walk in at about midday. A mildly amusing incident with Rosies camel back leaking in a big way provided the comedy element of the approach. I managed to catch up with Andy about life in general at le picnic round about 1. We made the hut around 3pm. 'A very hot day – I’ve already seen away three litres and suspect that’ll be five before the day is out.' By 4:30 I had insisted that we try Myrtlle tart. (It was bloody good) Strangely I’m starting to chill out already. The route tomorrow shouldn’t be too testing – be interesting to see how I feel on the walk in. Roughly 1000m of ascent before we need to rope up. Fortunately I don't need much in tbe way of kit & although i'll be carrying a rope and a couple of litres there won't be too much in the bag. Crampons / axe /cag but that's it. Should be a good warmup route.
I'd like to come back here in the winter. There are several cascades I can see just in front of me I reckon that all of them would form.
